Project & Business Development Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director/Deputy Executive Director the Project & Business Development Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of ADRH; the effective and efficient management and delivery of programmes identified through annual planning; and the development and implementation of a business development and fundraising strategy including establishing new funding sources.

Oversight of programmes will include annual planning, budgeting, reporting, managing partners and day-to-day operations consistent with project cycle management and the programmers’ goal to the highest standards of programmatic quality. Additionally, the Project & Business Development Lead Manager will also be required to be involved in programmes led by ADRH that involves research, writing, editing reports and supporting management of events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and coordinate day-to-day planning, implementation and management of activities.
  • Develop and implement plans with project staff, partners, technical specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure effective programme implementation.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and insight as required.
  • Ensure that research studies envisaged by the programme are designed, planned and conducted to high standards.
  • Manage stakeholder and partner relationships for programmes that require a coalition of support for execution.
  • Support organization of key events and oversight of programme and agenda.
  • Partner with senior management to provide input into annual planning and priority programmes identified each year).
  • Provide reports and updates for each of ADRH’s Working Groups that monitor progress of programmes.
  • Ensure monitoring system and tools developed are used by programme staff to track progress and capture learnings.
  • Monitor programme expenditures against budgets and preparation of financial reports on a regular basis.
  • Develop relationships with NGO partners, governments and other stakeholders in development of programme initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in office administration, project or programme management and business development roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with NGOs either in managing, implementing or supporting Programmes.
  • Significant experience in forging partnerships including negotiating partnership or teaming agreements, programme design, proposal writing, budget development and managing donor and other partner relationships.
  • High level of understanding of project cycle management approaches, project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and partners’ capacity building.
  • Considerable experience in budgeting/financial procedures and writing management and financial reports for senior management and donors.
  • Successful track record in securing multiple high-value contracts and funding from bilateral / multilateral donors, foundations and the private sector.
  • Experience with managing programmes or projects at a non-profit organization or NGO with funding from donors, foundations or the private sector.
  • Skills in facilitation of programmes, including mobilization of partners and governments.
  • Knowledge and experience of the key issues facing digital rights in Africa
  • Passionate about ADRH’s mission to improve the digital rights of all Africans.
  • High level of integrity and high standards of personal conduct.
  • Strong communication skills at a senior level.
  • Bi-lingual in French and English (is an advantage)
  • Educated to Bachelor’s degree level
